Dubai Hotels

There are essentially 2 categories of accommodation in Dubai, city hotels and beach resorts. The city hotels are found in Deira, Bur Dubai and Sheikh Zayed Road, while the beach resorts are located in Jumeirah. Resorts are generally 4 or 5-star properties, with opportunities for the budget traveller somewhat limited. There’s a wider range of hotels available in the city, though many are aimed at business travellers.

Alcohol regulations mean that hotels are home the majority of the city’s restaurants, bars and nightclubs.

Dubai’s hotels welcomed 6.3 million guests in 2006, an increase of around 230% on the figures a decade earlier. Occupancy rates are amongst the highest in the world, 86.9% in 2007, so early booking is recommended.

Hotel rates are currently high but are expected to drop as Dubai's new hotels begin to open over the next few years.
