Culture Village
The Culture Village aims to give Dubai a cultural face and provide an intellectually stimulating environment that will attract culture and art lovers from around the world. The developer is Dubai Properties, a member of Dubai Holding.
The masterplan features residential, commercial and retail zones, with hospitality and entertainment sub-districts. The design is inspired by traditional Arabic architecture and features cobblestone walkways, murals, romantic waterways, and wind towers.
Hotels
Hotels at the Culture Village will primarily be boutique hotels. One hotel already announced is the Palazzo Versace Resort, due for completion in 2009.
Real Estate - Apartments & D1 Tower
Residential areas will feature low to medium rise buildings with studio and 1 to 4 bedroom apartments. One exception is the 80 storey D1 residential tower (completion date 2010), next to the Palazzo Versace.
Shopping
The Culture Village will offer a completely different shopping experience to the majority of Dubai’s shopping malls. Shops here will be mainly designer boutiques, music and book shops, and art and craft galleries. A rustic souk is also planned.
Attractions & Entertainment
An amphitheatre will be the venue for opera, ballet and theatrical performances. A museum is also planned.
Schools
The Culture Village hopes to attract cultural institutions, and academies for art, dance, and music.
