The Lagoons
The Lagoons is a 70 million square foot ‘city within a city’ freehold development currently under construction on the banks of the Dubai Creek.
The developers are Sama Dubai, the real estate and development arm of Dubai Holding.
At the start of 2008 ground and infrastructure works were being carried out.
The Lagoons comprises 7 interlinked islands:
- Al Dana – Apartments, hotels, and commercial developments such as the Dubai Towers
- Al Sedaifa – Primarily a high-class shopping destination
- Al Jiwin – Parks, piazzas, and boutiques
- Al Naama – Art galleries, museums, bazaars and boutique shops
- Al Lulu – Luxury villas and townhouses
- Al Hassabi – Parks, a planetarium, and amphitheatre
- Dubai Opera House – The only opera house in the Middle East
