Trade Centre – Sheikh Zayed Road

The stretch of Sheikh Zayed Road before Interchange One is commonly known as the Trade Centre. It’s here that most of Dubai’s biggest and most impressive skyscrapers are found.

Hotels

Dubai’s most impressive (and expensive) business hotels line the Sheikh Zayed Road. Some of the best known are the Monarch Hotel, Crowne Plaza, Fairmont, and the Jumeirah Emirates Towers.

Reasonably priced hotels include the Novotel and Ibis, both at the Dubai International Convention Centre.

Real Estate - Apartments

Most residences in the Trade Centre/Sheikh Zayed Road are apartments. Rents and prices are expensive.

Shopping

Shopping facilities in the Trade Centre area itself are pretty limited. The Emirates Tower Boulevard is a small upscale shopping centre with a wealthy clientele. More affordable shopping can be found at the Holiday Centre mall at the Crowne Plaza. Shops here include a Choithram supermarket and pharmacy.

Additional choices can be found nearby at Downtown Burj Dubai (Dubai Mall and Souk Al Bahar) and Al Wasl (Mazaya Centre).

Attractions & Entertainment

Impressive skyscrapers aside, there are no historical attractions, museums etc. in the Trade Centre area. The Dubai Mall in Downtown Burj Dubai will offer a cinema and indoor SEGA amusement park when it opens at the end of 2008.

Schools

There are no international schools in the Trade Centre area. Expatriates with families tend to live elsewhere. The nearest schools are in Al Wasl and Al Safa.
