Construction halted at Four Seasons hotel

Construction work on the Four Seasons hotel at Dubai Festival City has been halted according to several sources.

The Four Seasons Golf Club has reverted to its original name, the Al Badia Golf Club, and will be managed by the InterContinental Hotels Group.

InterContinental has two hotels at Dubai Festival City; the InterContinental Dubai Festival City and the Crowne Plaza Dubai Festival City.

Tiara Residence apartments handed over to owners

Zabeel Properties, a division of Zabeel Investments, has announced that it has handed over homes at the Tiara Residence to owners.

The Tiara Residence is located on the trunk of the Palm Jumeirah and comprises 644 apartments in seven 15-storey towers.

The development also includes the Essque Hotel, set to open in 2010.

Six Flags files for bankruptcy

Six Flags, the US-based amusement park chain, has filed for bankruptcy protection.

In March 2008 it signed an agreement with Tatweer to develop an amusement park in Dubailand.

Tatweer, a subsidiary of Dubai Holding, says the theme park at Dubailand will not be affected by the development.

Rezidor announce Park Inn Bur Dubai

Plans for a new hotel in Bur Dubai have been announced by the Rezidor Hotel Group.

The Brussels-based group will open the 220-room Park Inn Bur Dubai in the second quarter of 2012.

Rezidor is one of the fastest growing hospitality companies in the Middle East, with more than 40 hotels in operation and under development.

New boutique opens at Sunset Mall

A new women’s boutique has opened at the Sunset Mall in Jumeirah.

Sylvia She Glows, created by designer Sylvia Marton, will offer exclusive lingerie, plus silk scarves and slippers, lace gloves, and toiletry bags.

Sunset Mall was launched in January 2009 by UAE real estate developer Dubai Investment Properties.

Keys handed over to Golden Mile apartments

Owners of residential units at the Golden Mile on the Palm Jumeirah began receiving their keys last month.

The development on the trunk of the artificial island includes 860 residential units (one, two and three bedroom apartments, plus townhouses and penthouses). It is a joint venture between Nakheel and IFA Hotels and Resorts (IFAHR).

All residences will be managed by the Fairmont Palm Hotel, scheduled to open in 2010.

IFA HR recently introduced a scheme allowing Golden Mile owners to either occupy their apartments or lease them through IFA HR.

Shark diving at the Dubai Aquarium

The Dubai Aquarium, at the Dubai Mall, is now offering visitors the chance to dive with its sharks and other aquatic animals.

From May 9 divers can come face-to-face with resident sharks, stingrays, giant groupers and over 33,000 other creatures in one of the world’s largest aquariums.

3 dives are offered each day in conjunction with Al Boom Diving, one of the leading dive centres in Dubai.

Certified divers can take part immediately. Others must take a short course with Al Boom Diving.

Mr Arif Amiri, Senior Director, Emaar Properties PJSC, said, ‘Visitors to Dubai Aquarium have been fascinated by the sight of our staff divers, who dive underwater to feed our sharks and fishes every day. New Premier Inn opens

The Premier Inn Dubai Silicon Oasis has opened for business.

The UK budget hotel group opened their first hotel at Dubai Investment Park in April 2008.

The group plans to open another hotel near Dubai International Airport later this year.
