Sharmilas Annual Dance show is a dancing extravaganza with a unique blend of dance styles, performed by over 160 talented UAE based performers of all ages and proficiencies. Happening on April 24th and 25th at The Dubai Community Theatre & Arts Centre at the Mall of the Emirates.

The entire show is choreographed by Sharmila Kamte and her Dance Academy in association with Skechers, official newspaper 7 Days, Meeting Dance & Leisure Wear, Clean & Clear and Lighthouse Productions along with the official venue Dubai Community Theatre & Arts Centre and Startime. This year’s show includes retentions of latino, soul, indian and hip hop styles among the 23 dances being performed. Audiences will also have the opportunity to enjoy performances from Sharmila Kamte and her ensemble as well as Piso Caliente the latino dance specialists.

Sharmilas Annual Show has been performed in Dubai for the past nine years, previously showing at the Jumeirah Beach Club. 2007 saw the show move to the Dubai Community Theatre & Arts Center at Mall of the Emirates. The Centre is the first modern, non-profit, cross-community creative centre in the Gulf, built to international specifications.

Sharmilas Annual Jazz Show will be opening on Friday 24th April with a matinee performance at 2:30pm for specially invited guests with an evening performance at 7pm commencing the public performances, on Saturday 25th April at 2.30pm and 7pm.

Tickets are on sale now from the Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre at Mall of the Emirates. Ticket prices are 85 AED for adults and 70 AED for under 18’s.

Singing sensation Charice Pempengco is to perform in Dubai.

The Filipina singer will appear in concert at the Filipino Music Festival at Dubai Festival City on February 19 2009.

The 16 year old shot to fame through video performances on YouTube and recently sang at the Barack Obama’s pre-inaugural ball.

Cirque du Soleil will return to Dubai next year before taking permanent residence at the Palm Jumeirah.

The Canadian-based circus will perform their popular show Alegria at the Ibn Battuta Mall from March 5 to April 9 2009. Ticketing information will be released at the beginning of December.

In 2011 the Cirque du Soleil will take up permanent residence at a purpose-built theatre on the Palm Jumeirah.

Film buffs in Dubai will be able to enjoy 12 nights of open air cinema next month. The Hydra Open Air Cinema will be at the Madinat Jumeirah from November 10 to 21 2008 and will feature a 4,000 sq ft screen with 32 speaker digital surround sound system.

Dutch trance DJ Tiesto will be performing at the Madinat Arena on February 14 2008. The show starts and 9 pm and runs to 3 am, with a warm-up set by DJ Fredelux. Ticketsare priced at 250 AED and can be booked by calling the Madinat Jumeirah Box Office on 04 366 65 46.

Latin rock legend Carlos Santana will perform his first ever gig in the Middle East at Dubai Festival City on February 15 2008. It will be one of the major events of the 2008 Dubai Shopping Festival. Tickets are available from www.santanadubai.ae and the Hard Rock Café Dubai.

Latin pop sensation Gloria Estefan will give her first concert in the Middle East at the Dubai International Film Festival next month. She will perform following the world premier of the film 90 Milas, directed by her husband Emilio Estefan. The film, named after the distance between Cuba and Florida, explores the lives of Cuban musicians in exile in the United States. The concert and film will take place on December 13 at the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre. Tickets are available online from www.dubaifilmfest.com.
