The new stations opening are: Emirates HQ, Dubai International Airport Terminal 1, GGICO (Al Garhoud), Al Karama, Trade Centre, Dubai Marina, and the Ibn Battuta Mall.

The remaining 11 stations will open in October.

The Red Line opened with 10 stations on September 9 2009. The Burj Khalifa Metro Station opened in January 2010.

The remaining 11 stations will open in the ‘following months’.

The RTA also announced that the completion date for the Green Line has been pushed back to August 2011.

The famous circus will return to Dubai between March 5 and April 5 2009 with evening performances every day except Monday and matinee shows on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

In 2011 Cirque du Soleil will take up permanent residence on the Palm Jumeirah.

The Canadian-based circus will perform their popular show Alegria at the Ibn Battuta Mall from March 5 to April 9 2009. Ticketing information will be released at the beginning of December.

The first IMAX theatre in the UAE opened at the Grand Megaplex cinema at the Ibn Battuta Mall in 2005 and features a screen measuring 44 feet tall and 70 feet wide.

Discovery Gardens – which follows on from the success of Nakheel’s The Gardens – is a 26 million square foot development of six themed communities inspired by garden living.
