On 2 October 2015 there was a significant change to the timings of the Dubai Metro system. The start time on Fridays was changed to 10 am.
Prior to this the Metro trains had started running at 1 pm on Fridays in respect of the Islamic holy day. This was a serious impediment to the travel plans of many visitors, particularly non-Muslims. Those working at the weekend (Friday and Saturday in Dubai) were also affected, as were travellers arriving at, or departing from Dubai International Airport on a Friday morning.

Standard timings are now:
- Red Line – Thursday 5.30 am to 1 am, Friday 10 am to 1 am, and Saturday to Wednesday 5.30 am to midnight.
- Green Line – Thursday 5.50 am to 1 am, Friday 10 am to 1 am, and Saturday to Wednesday 5.50 am to midnight.
Trains run every five minutes at peak hours (and every eight minutes at other times) so timetables aren’t required.
