International City

International City is a mixed-use development by Nakheel. One of its primary aims was to meet the city’s demand for affordable housing.

Real Estate – Apartments

Residential developments within Dubai International City include:

  • 10 themed residential communities (China, England, Italy, Spain, Persia, Greece, Morocco, France, Russia, and Emirates) with over 20,000 apartments
  • Central Business District – includes residential apartment towers

The development is one of the cheapest places in Dubai to rent or buy an apartment. However, the area has had problems with overcrowding, poorly maintained buildings, and problems with sewage.

Shopping

There are no ‘traditional’ malls within International City. The DragonMart, located at the northern end of the development, is a massive shopping centre with thousands of stores selling Chinese products at bargain prices.

Many of the apartment buildings feature community stores, grocery shops and pharmacies at ground level. The nearest shopping malls are the Festival Centre at Dubai Festival City and City Centre Mirdif in Mirdif.

Hotels

Hotels nearby include the Premier Inn Dubai Silicon Oasis and the Desert Palm. There are no hotels within International City itself.

Transport

The Dubai Metro does not serve International City. One option to get there by public transport is to take the Metro to Rashidiya Metro Station and then take bus 365 to International City.
