Deira City Centre is a large 3-level shopping mall in the Deira area of Dubai. It boasts more than 350 stores, a multiplex cinema, a children’s entertainment centre, and numerous restaurants and fast food outlets.
Anchor stores at Deira City Centre are Carrefour, Iconic, Debenhams, Paris Gallery, Sharaf DG, Woolworths, and Virgin Megastore.
Carrefour is a large French hypermarket located on Level 1 of the mall. In addition to food and general household products it also offers electronic goods, bags and luggage, mobile phones, digital cameras and camcorders, DVDs, camping equipment and outdoor goods, stationery, car accessories, furniture, home appliances, carpets and rugs, and garden furniture.
Iconic opened at the beginning of 2010 and is a huge lifestyle and fashion store near the Metro entrance. An extensive fashion department offers clothes, accessories, and footwear for both men and women. Brands stocked include Diesel, Lee Cooper, Levi’s, G-Star, UMM, Firetrap, Ringspun, Affliction, Silver Dagger, Billabong, Kappa, Vans, Stussy, Paul Frank, Lipsy, Reiss, Glamourpuss, and New Look. There store also boast a beauty department selling cosmetics and fragrances, and electronics section offering computers, software, mobile telephones, gaming consoles and games, and cameras. The SOHO market offers a constantly changing selection of gifts, gadgets, novelty products, toys, games, books, and magazines.
Sharaf DG is the largest electronics shop at Deira City Centre. The 40,000 square foot store offers a massive selection of products such as cameras and lenses, camcorders, desktop and laptop computers, printers, monitors, software, e-book readers, TVs, home audio and cinema systems, gaming console, car audio systems, telephones and mobile phones. It also stocks a wide range of home appliances including fridges and freezers, dishwashers, washing machines, plus gas and electric cookers.
Other shops include Al Jaber Gallery (antiques, carpets, arts, and crafts), Mothercare, New Look, Marks & Spencer, Stadium (clothes), Jacky’s Electronics, Jumbo Electronics, Jane Norman, Mango, Monsoon, Morgan, Top Shop, MAC (make-up and beauty), Mikyajy (Arabic cosmetics), Sephora (cosmetics and perfumes), The Body Shop (ethical cosmetics), Nine West (footwear, bags, and accessories), Shoe Citi, Shoe Mart, Valencia, Sun & Sand Sports (sports equipment and clothing), Toys R Us, Gap, H&M, Next, La Senza (glamorous lingerie), Splash, Zara, and Breitling (watches).
VOX Cinemas (formerly CineStar) is an 11-screen multiplex cinema showing all the latest blockbuster films. It’s situated at the eastern end of Level 2. For movie listings and show times visit the official VOX Cinemas website.
Deira City Centre also features a popular family entertainment centre. Magic Planet offers a good range of children’s rides, arcade games and simulators, and a soft play area, while Bowling City is an 8-lane tenpin bowling alley. Both are located at the eastern end of Level 1.
Deira City Centre boasts over 50 restaurants and places to eat and drink. The main food court is located on Level 1 of the mall, next to Magic Planet. There is also a strip of restaurants on Level 2, next to VOX Cinemas, and a handful of snack bars on the Ground Level, near the taxi pick-up area.
Places to eat at the main food court include McDonald’s, Starbucks, Fresh (soups, salads, and sandwiches), Fujiyama (Japanese), Shamiana (Indian), Panda Chinese, Sugoi (sushi), Karam Express (Lebanese), Al Safeer (Arabic), KFC, Mrs Vanelli’s (Italian), Subway, New York Fries (fries with a variety of toppings), Fish & Chips Co., Flaming Wok (Asian), Burger King, Charley’s Grilled Subs, Wild Peeta, Pizza Hut, Hardee’s (sandwiches), and Taco Bell.
Restaurant next to the cinema include Coco’s (international), China Times (Chinese), Chili’s (Tex-Mex), Hatam (Persian), and Uno Chicago Grill (American).
Snack bars on the Ground Level include Baskin Robins (ice cream and frozen desserts), Magic Corner (corn in a cup), Auntie Anne’s Pretzels, Safari Juices (fresh fruit juices and smoothies), La Fragola (Italian ice cream), and Dunkin Donuts.
Restaurants elsewhere in the mall include Wild Ginger (Asian) and Bite (International), both within Iconic, and TGI Fridays and Paul (French), both at the western end of Level 1.
Deira City Centre is open every day of the week. Opening hours are Sunday to Wednesday 10 am to 10 pm, and Thursday to Saturday 10 am to midnight. Carrefour is open Saturday to Wednesday 9 am to midnight, and Thursday and Friday 9 am until 1 am.
Facilities and services include toilets, baby changing facilities, an Etisalat bill payment machine, luggage storage, information desks, car rental desk (Thrifty), dry cleaners, men’s and ladies’ hair salons, and beauty salons. The Dubai Department of Tourism & Commerce Marketing (DTCM) also have a tourist information desk here. There is also an Emirates NBD branch here plus numerous ATMs and currency exchange centres.
The City Centre Hotel and Residence managed by Pullman is attached to the hotel. It offers 318 rooms and 112 one, two, and three bedroom serviced apartments. Facilities include a gym, rooftop swimming pool, and squash courts. The hotel also boasts a number of licensed restaurants and bars include La Cite (International), La Villa (Mediterranean), Churchill’s (English pub), and the Martini Lounge. Other hotels within walking distance include the Novotel Deira City Centre and the Ibis Deira City Centre.
The mall is located in Deira and is well signposted from all major roads in the area. The mall boasts a car park with spaces for 4,000 vehicles and parking is free on Friday, Saturday, national holidays, and for the first 4 hours on weekdays (Sunday to Thursday in Dubai). A pay-on-exit system is in operation. Drivers must validate their parking tickets at a pay machine (even if no payment is due) before returning to their cars. The machines take banknotes and major credit cards.
Cinemagoers enjoy an extra free hour of parking and should present their parking ticket to the VOX Cinemas cashier to have the additional time added.
The mall has its own Metro station. The Deira City Centre Metro Station is on the Red Line and is just a short walk from the mall.
Taxi drivers should have no problem finding Deira City Centre. Departing shoppers should use the taxi pick-up area located on the ground floor at the eastern end of the mall.
