Mushrif Park

This desert park near Mirdif offers a good selection of attractions and family-oriented activities. It’s more difficult to reach than Dubai’s other public parks, but arguably the most interesting.

Tended lawns can be found in the centre of the park. Much of it is lightly forested with ghaf trees (the national tree of the UAE).

Attractions and Things to Do

Mushrif Park offers a wealth of attractions and things to do:

• Playgrounds and rides for children
• Swimming pools
• Aventura – High-ropes activity centre
• Winners Equestrian Club – horse riding
• Al Thuraya Astronomy Centre
• Cycle track – dedicated cycle track runs around the perimeter of the park
• BBQ areas – Barbeques are allowed – the park boasts a dedicated BBQ area with firepits, gazebos, benches, and tables
• International Village – replicas of houses from around the world (Thailand, China, England, Netherlands, Indonesia, Burma, Japan etc.)

Swimming Pools

The park offers two covered swimming pools; one for ladies and one for men. Opening hours are 9 am to 9 pm daily. Swimming pool tickets cost 10.5 AED for adults and 5.25 AED for children. Payment for the swimming pool ticket is by Nol card.

The pools were refurbished in 2019 and now boast new roof covers. There are lifeguards on duty and lockers are available.

Boys aged 6 and over are not allowed in the women’s pool.

Aventura

Aventura is a high-ropes adventure activity centre. It offers a variety of courses for different ages and abilities. The circuits include zip-lines, Tarzan jumps, rope crossings, and more.

Entry to Aventura is not included in the standard park admission ticket.

Al Thuraya Astronomy Centre

Mushrif Park is also home to Al Thuraya Astronomy Centre. This impressive observatory is a joint venture between Dubai Municipality and the Dubai Astronomy Group.

It offers a large telescope, an observation deck, theatre, plus classrooms and labs. It hosts an active programme of events including stargazing parties and meteor shower viewings. Check out their website or Facebook page for details.

Winners Equestrian Club

Winners Equestrian Club offers horseback rides around the forest paths and sandy dunes of Mushrif Park.

Facilities

Facilities at the park include a cafe, toilets, and prayer rooms.

Entrance Fee

The entrance fee to Mushrif Park in 2020 is 3 AED per person (10 AED per car). Payment is by Nol card (contactless travel card).

Admission is free for children under 2 and the disabled.

The entrance fee does not include admission to attractions and activities such as Aventura, horse riding, swimming, and the astronomy centre.

Location

Mushrif Park is situated in the Mushrif area of Dubai, just east of Mirdif.

The best way to get to Mushrif Park is to drive or take a taxi.

There are two entrances to the park:

• Gate 1 – Main entrance – off Al Khawaneej Road (D89)
• Gate 2 – Off Tripoli Street (D83)

Bus service 11A goes from the Gold Souq Bus Station in Deira to Awir and passes Mushrif Park. The nearest bus stop is on Al Khawaneej Road (D89). The distance from the bus stop to the centre of the park is around 1 mile.

There is no Dubai Metro station near the park. The closest Metro station is Rashidiya, around 4 miles away.  Rashidiya Metro Station is the eastern terminus of the Dubai Metro Red Line. From here it would be necessary to catch a taxi.

If the location is not convenient for you, try one of Dubai’s other public parks. Safa Park, Zabeel Park, Creek Park, and Al Mamzar Beach Park are all more centrally located and have better public transport links.
