Meydan Racecourse & Meydan City

The Meydan Racecourse is currently under construction. It is scheduled to open in 2010 and will become the new home of the Dubai World Cup, replacing the existing Nad Al Sheba venue.

Meydan City is a commercial/residential development and will be located next to the racecourse.

A 4 km canal will link the project to the Dubai Creek. A tram, capable of carrying 10,000 people every hour, will link Meydan City and Meydan Racecourse.

Attraction & Entertainment

The new Meydan Racecourse will be able to accommodate 60,000 spectators in 1.2 km long grandstand. When not used for races it will serve as a business and conference facility. A horse racing museum and gallery are also planned.

The Meydan Marina will be located at the centre of Meydan City and will offer berthing facilities for around 80 yachts.

The development also includes an 18-hole championship golf course.

Hotels

The grandstand will be home to a 5-star Banyan Tree hotel. It is expected to offer 300 – 400 rooms, with all suites having unobstructed views of the racecourse.
